Media Release: Live and Original Music Series Expands

Collingwood, ON [28 March 2017] – The Collingwood Live & Original Music Series is launching Phase Two of the quest to acquire incredible talent for the Live & Original Music Series weekend in May – and the public is being asked to help.
Video auditions received by the deadline of March 17 were reviewed and eight of the ten finalist positions have been filled. The final two positions will be put to a vote with Wildcard Contestants vying for those last spots and their chance to share in $5000 in prize money.
The five Wildcard Finalists are:
·         Cam Brown, Barrie, ON
·         John Cossar, Aylmer, QC
·         Justine Giles, Sudbury, ON
·         Michelle Greig, Barrie, ON
·         Brian Tuomi, Azilda, ON
Starting March 29, each of the 5 Wildcards will have their submitted audition video posted on the Experience Collingwood Facebook page @ExperienceCollingwood for everyone to see – “Likes” for each video will be considered votes for that contestant to proceed to the Final 10 and the Live competition in May. Voting will end on April 6 at 4:00 p.m.
Live & Original (L&O) is a singer/songwriter competition designed to provide an opportunity for true creative talent to find their audience and develop a network that will assist them on their musical journey.
This year, for the first time, L&O will be separated from the Collingwood Elvis Festival and will begin its residency in the Eddie Bush Memorial Arena’s Townhall Theatre. A 140’ curtain will bisect the arena creating an intimate venue for 500. The Townhall Theatre will also be sporting the brand new seats, set to be installed in April.
Two workshops will round out the Series weekend with a Saturday session on how to get the most out of a studio recording session, and a Sunday session on writing and creating music. L&O has partnered with the Songwriters Association of Canada to help facilitate the songwriting session on Sunday.
The singer/songwriter competition will span two nights (Saturday, May 6, and Sunday, May 7). Tickets, $10 each or $20 for a weekend pass, are available at
The Collingwood Live & Original Music Series is presented by the Town of Collingwood and supported by 95.1 The Peak, Big 101.1, Fresh 93.1, Cranberry Golf Resort, Living Water Resort & Spa, Collingwood Downtown, Side Launch Brewing Company, Red Room Recordings, Loblaw Great Food, Theatre Collingwood, and the Songwriters Association of Canada.
